Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Fragrances

Fueled by a reverence for the ornate, luxurious lifestyle of the Renaissance era, French perfumer Jean Laporte founded Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier in Paris in 1988. Translated as "Master Perfumer and Glovemaker," the perfumery made a name for itself for rekindling the 16th and 17th century fashion of wearing fragrance-scented gloves.

In 1997, Laporte's apprentice, Jean-Paul Millet Lage, assumed creative and operational control of Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier. Staying true to its founder's vision, Lage ensures that the company's commitment to old-world quality and modern luxury continues to attract a global, contemporary audience.

Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier's four core business values include artistic ingenuity without regard for marketability, the maintenance of an independent distributor network, the incorporation of IFRA-allowed organic materials, and internal perfume creation. Remaining in line with its original vision, the company's fragrance flacons are all reminiscent of the Baroque period in history.

Under Lage's direction, Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier defines its brand through a series of fragrance collections. Les Fleurs Divines women's scent collection, released between 1998 and 1992, celebrates distinct flower combinations, while Les Parfums du Levant women's and men's fragrance collection features various Oriental-inspired scents, all of which were released in 1988.

Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier's biggest success came with its unisex Bahia release in 2005. As of 2014, the company offers a total of 44 women's, men's and unisex scents.
