Jean Lowe Matiere is — all told — a solid budget-friendly unisex fragrance that strikes a pleasant balance of floral, fruity, and oriental-woody notes. It won’t blow you away like a heavy oud-incense masterpiece, but it’s versatile, reasonably long-lasting, and likely to get compliments without overwhelming anyone. If you’re new to oud/Arabian-style scents or want an accessible fragrance that’s neither too sweet nor too aggressive, it’s definitely worth trying. If you’re chasing a bold “niche perfume” vibe, treat it more like an easy-to-wear everyday scent than a collector-grade statement.

This is sooooo lush. The rose blending with the frankincense and oud gives a deep richness that immediately reminded me of Coco Chanel. Not in the exact fragrance notes but certainly in it’s presence and personality. This a beautiful fragrance for date night or a quiet evening reading a book.
