A classic fragrance, a shame it is being discontinued. It feels like a quintessential office/board room fragrance, confident, mature, reliable, unquestionably and unrepentantly masculine. Definitely an old school fresh, which will have a broad appeal. Like many before mentioned, citrus on the top, but a very warm fragrance, with a leathery dry down. RIP to a true classic, I am glad I purchased it while it is still around and hopefully Dunhill will bring it back.

My mother gave me a gift set consisting of two black bottles that looked like dice. It was the Dunhill eau de toilette and the cologne. That was more than 65 years ago. This last Christmas I gave my grandson (age 13) a coming of age present, the Dunhill cologne spray. Of greater interest:in 1989 or '90 I received a letter from the Dunhill company president that they were discontinuing their then signature scent. I immediately ordered a case of the splash version of the cologne. A few weeks after receiving my order I received another letter from the president of Dunhill. In it he acknowledged a tsunami of mailed outrage from around the world about the proposed discontinuance. He said that the death threats against him and his family had been received, inappropriate as they were. He promised that thereafter there would never be a thought about discontinuing their signature traditional scent. A few years later my daughter left our home in Palm Springs, California, USA to go to college in Boston, Massachusetts. I gave her a bottle of my Dunhill Cologne and told her to smell it if she became really homesick. A few weeks after her arrival in Boston, she called me to tell me that she enjoyed the college but that she was quite homesick. I asked her if she had smelled some of the Dunhill cologne. She replied affirmatively. I asked her what the smell did for her. She replied, "It just made me more homesick!" I might add that she graduated four years later from Boston University Summa Cum Laude with a 3.77 GPA. The power of Dunhill?
