Alyssa Ashley Fragrances

Alyssa Ashley is an affordable fragrance line created in the late 1960s. It was originally founded as a division of the French luxury perfume brand of Houbigant, but from its earliest days it took a very different approach: Alyssa Ashley’s scents were aimed at the youth culture of the Sixties, and they catered to the current taste for unisex, natural-smelling personal fragrances. Alyssa Ashley’s Musk Oil, released in 1968, was a generational favorite that endures as a cult classic. Its composition of sexy musk balanced with floral and spice notes is still available in perfume oil as well as lighter formulations and body products for everyday wear. Musk was soon joined by additional earthy, animalic fragrances like Civet and Ambergis, and in 1970 Alyssa Ashley launched a “Naked Esscents” collection of botanical-inspired scents, including Green Apple, Jasmine, Morning Dew, and Oak Moss, that were softer and more specifically feminine. Later offerings from this brand have included the sensual White Musk, the fruity Fizzy, and gourmand Coco Vanilla—all of them in keeping with emerging trends in perfumery. More recent releases have highlighted newly popular notes like green tea and oud, proving that Alyssa Ashley is still keeping pace with the public’s perfume-wearing tastes.
