Carthusia started in Capri in 1948 when the Prior of the Carthusian Monastery found ancient fragrance formulas and brought them to a chemist to create. They opened the smallest laboratory in the world and called it Carthusia. Their brand logo is a “floral mermaid” created to to embody the spirit and culture of Capri. To this day all of the fragrance production is done by hand to preserve the artisanal quality of these elegant fragrances.
