Chopard Fragrances

Founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the design house of Chopard gained notoriety for its timepieces of superior quality, which were designed and manufactured in-house. Over time, Chopard added fine jewelry pieces to its storefront, which originally operated in the tiny village of Sonvillier, Switzerland. The company's continued success led to its eventual expansion into the Swiss cities of La Chaux de Fonds and Geneva.

Paul Andre Chopard, the great-grandson of the founder, took over the company in 1943 and ran its operations until 1963, when he sold it to Karl Scheufele, a member of a prominent German watchmaking family. Under Scheufele's guiding hand, the company married its fine jewelry and watchmaking facets into a notable collection, Happy Diamonds, which featured watches adorned with free-moving diamonds situated between sapphire crystals.

As of 2014, Chopard is still run by the Scheufele family, who extended the business into fragrance design through a partnership with L'Oreal. It released its first women's scent, Casmir, in 1992. The sweet, Oriental vanilla fragrance was an immediate success. The company's first men's scent, Heaven, also an Asian-inspired scent, was released in 1994.

The Chopard design house offers 30 men's and women's fragrances, many of which are released in conjunction with one of the company's fine jewelry or watch collections. Many of Chopard's fragrances also come in gemstone-shaped flacons that pay homage to the design house's high-end jewelry pieces.
